The course

Course starts: Wednesday 14 October 2026, from 8 pm to 10.30 pm.

Cost: 150 euros including VAT

During the course, in addition to the practice done in the lessons, you’ll be given an assignment to bring at the end: a series of portraits based on a moodboard you create.

In these four sessions in my studio we’ll cover the psychological side of portrait photography (how to approach the subject), posing and the technical side, using both continuous lights and the studio strobes.

The course consists of four meetings, including three practical studio sessions with three different models.

The programme

One theory evening, three studio sessions with three different models and a final evening on your photos.

  1. 14 OctWednesday · 7 pm–9 pm
    Portrait photography: the great photographers of the present and the past, starting from the masters of painting. What is portrait photography? Genres and approaches. Photographic technique. By the day before the course starts, email the teacher (davidezugna@gmail.com) 3 portraits by famous or lesser-known photographers in which you "recognise yourself".
  2. 21 OctWednesday · 7 pm–9 pm
    First studio session with a model (3 hours), theme "Painterly": we'll see how to interact with the subject and how to handle flash or continuous lights in the comfort of the photo studio. We'll use a reference moodboard to guide us through the shoot.
  3. 28 OctWednesday · 7 pm–9 pm
    Second studio session with a model, theme "Fashion/Beauty": we'll see how to interact with the subject and how to handle flash in the comfort of the photo studio. Before the shoot we'll discuss the previous session in terms of editing, use of light and working with the model.
  4. 4 NovWednesday · 7 pm–9 pm
    Third studio session with a model;
  5. 11 NovWednesday · 7 pm–9 pm
    Final evening, reviewing the images taken in the previous sessions and editing them.

  • For whom Those who can use their camera in manual mode

Maximum 8 participants.

To take part you’ll need your own camera (DSLR or mirrorless) and to be able to use it in manual mode (setting ISO, shutter speed and aperture on your own). A 50mm prime lens is recommended.

Cost: 150 euros including VAT

A 50 euro deposit is required to confirm your place. The remaining 100 euros are paid at the first lesson.
